Safe Incident Reporting (VIM)

With safe incident reporting (VIM) you report incidents and near-incidents safely within your practice.

Why VIM?

The Wkkgz (Dutch Healthcare Quality, Complaints and Disputes Act) requires healthcare providers to be able to safely report incidents and near-incidents, so your practice can learn from them. VIM supports this internally.

Where do you find this?

Open Incident Report (VIM) in the left-hand menu.

Filing a report

Click Add New and fill in a short account of the incident, the date it happened, and who is filing it. Anyone on the team can file a report, regardless of role.

You can sort the report list — for example newest or oldest first, or alphabetically — to find a specific report back.

Handling

A report gets a status. As soon as the practice manager has reviewed and handled the report, its status moves to a processed state, so the whole team can see it's been dealt with. A separate way to edit a report after submitting it has not been confirmed.

What DentallManager does not do

VIM supports safe, internal reporting of incidents. A formal calamity report to the IGJ (Dutch Health and Youth Care Inspectorate) remains your practice's own responsibility. DentallManager does not file this report for you automatically.

DentallManager supports you in organising quality and compliance, but this is not legal advice. For the current requirements, consult the official sources (including KNMT, IGJ and the Dutch Data Protection Authority) or an adviser.
