Roles and Permissions

DentallManager works with roles. What you see and can do in the system depends on your role. This page describes the permissions per role.

What does this mean in practice?

  • Employees can view and submit everything that affects their own work: schedule, requests, notifications, exams, and protocols.
  • Practice managers additionally manage the team: contracts, settings, approvals, and internal communication.

Salary and contract fields are in the employment file. Employees see their own file via My employment file.

How the role model works

DentallManager works with a flexible role model that you manage via Settings → User access control → Access rights, the page with the heading Setup - Roles:

  • Base roles: Super Admin, Admin and Basis gebruiker (the default basic-access role) determine the general access level.
  • Additional roles per section: you can grant targeted permissions, such as Schedules, Checklists, Payroll administration, Time Tracker (also for team members), Decision Trees, Contract generator, Document generator, Documents & Protocols, Exams, FAQ, and To do.
  • Stackable: an employee can have multiple roles at the same time.
  • Per location: roles apply to all locations or to specific locations.
  • Custom roles: you create new roles yourself with Add New.

The tables above show the default situation (Basis gebruiker vs. Admin). Want to restrict or expand the permissions of an assistant or employee? You configure that here. Your practice can therefore deviate from this default.

Position is not the same as role

Someone's position (dentist, dental hygienist, assistant) is separate from their access role. You manage positions via Settings → Positions; access permissions via Settings → User access control → Access rights.
